Russell Carline is a composer with a career spanning more than 20 years producing music for all types of television programming.

A bass player and producer specialising in music for television, his compositional style is versatile and melodic, incorporating elements of rock, jazz, funk, orchestral and electronic music.

Russell attended Bristol University studying pharmacology, formed superfunk band 23 Skidoo, and MD'd many revues, playing the famous Cambridge Footlights and Edinburgh Festival.

After graduating Russell became tutor to the daughter of the Egyptian Ambassador to London whilst pursuing a career in music playing bass at nights in jazz clubs and music venues around London's West End, writing and recording during the day. He signed a publishing and production deal with AXL and recorded tracks as a solo artist for EMI at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.

In 1990, Alan Winstanley, producer of Madness and others, produced his first chart single "Each and Every Minute". In 1991 a second single "When I'm Boxing" was picked up by Sky Sports for promos for Mike Tyson's exclusive pay per view fights.

While writing and producing music for SATV, Sky Television's then burgeoning music library, Russell began receiving commissions for news, documentary and sports themes for Sky TV and Eurosport.

At the launch of BSkyB's The Comedy Channel, he was commissioned to write and record the channel theme song and idents.

In 1996 Russell wrote and produced the BSkyB corporate theme and adapted and arranged it for all Sky Channel Idents including the theme for Sky's flagship channel Sky News. With this and many other compositions he became the sound of Sky TV for much of the 90's and beyond.

Russell continues to write and record commissioned music for television and his music is widely used in TV and film productions the world over. He is founder of etrax.eu, one of the first totally online music library and licensing services, and mediacomposers.eu, an online service for composers working in music for media worldwide, now known collectively as ET Music. He is currently working with his band Zinfonioni whose first album is due for release Autumn 2017.

Russell lives in Yorkshire, England with his wife and two sons.
